Specialist commercial law firm Blackbourn & Bond open a new chapter

April 2009

On 6th April 2009, leading West Midlands based commercial law firm Blackbourn & Bond Ltd created a new chapter in the company's history, by announcing a new company name, revealing a sophisticated new corporate identity and launching a new website.

The changes prompted by the promotion of Dwight Bond to Director recently, also mark 6 years of unparalleled success that have seen the company, known previously as Blackbourn Andrews, grow from being a regional law practice to a leading boutique law firm dedicated to serving the business and commerce law interests of property and business entrepreneurs, SME's and multi-national corporations. During 2008 the company's two directors, Nick Blackbourn and Dwight Bond personally handled transactions which had values for their clients ranging between £200k and £7m as well as number of smaller, but no less significant matters.

Dwight Bond said: "This month, we turn the page into a new chapter titled Blackbourn & Bond.  The new identity will serve to differentiate Blackbourn & Bond, and reassert our specialist credentials in business and commercial property law. It also provides the platform to build on client relationships, our expertise and expansion of the company's professional business service."

The Shrewsbury based practice was established in 2003 by Nick Blackbourn who has extensive corporate finance and company commercial sector experience, having worked with some of the UK's largest PLC's, including Guinness Plc and Rank Hovis McDougall Plc.  Dwight Bond, who joined the firm in 2005 as an Associate, now heads the commercial property division leveraging his knowledge of the leisure and retail sectors gained at a national brewery and well know European supermarket chain.  Clients work directly with both solicitors who promote approachable and proactive relationships.

Nick Blackbourn said: "Adopting a new name and brand identity is a natural step in our rapid growth that will be associated with our distinctive approach to business relationships. Over the years this has become our core strength and by not diluting our focus of working directly with clients, or diversifying into non-business legal areas, we have set ourselves apart from other law firms.  In turn, this has helped us to create strong client relationships, enabling us to provide a more personal service to businesses and their owners and be seen as a trusted partner."

As the region's only dedicated business and commerce law firm, Blackbourn & Bond works in direct partnership with clients to assist businesses through advice and close engagement.  Great emphasis is placed on the use of plain English, jargon-free communication and value for money services.

"We believe that professional legal help should not be a last resort, but an integral part of a business's support structure.  It is important to us that we understand our clients' businesses and are able to offer informed advice. To do this, we work at the forefront of business law keeping abreast of any changes that may influence or benefit our clients' undertakings," added Nick.
