BLACKBOURN & BOND ‘GOING PLACES’ WITH WREXHAM & SHROPSHIRE

Law firm to offer free legal advice on-board rail services to London

From August 2009, passengers travelling to London Marylebone on Wrexham & Shropshire services will be able to seek free expert legal business advice from Shrewsbury’s leading commercial law specialists’ Blackbourn & Bond.

The one-to-one legal sessions will provide first class business customers travelling to London from Shrewsbury and Telford the opportunity to speak with lawyers Nick Blackbourn and Dwight Bond about business related or commercial property legal matters.  The first two legal sessions are scheduled for the 3rd and 10th August on the train arriving in London at 08:57, in time for a full day’s business in the Capital.  More sessions are planned for later on in the year.

Nick Blackbourn, Director at Blackbourn & Bond, says: “We are always looking for new and innovative ways of engaging with the business community, and this new partnership with Wrexham & Shropshire provides the ideal opportunity for us to share our legal expertise in a completely new business environment.  It also demonstrates the importance we place on promoting approachable and proactive relationships.”

Thomas Ableman, Marketing Director at Wrexham & Shropshire, says: “We’re always on the lookout for ideas that we think will benefit our passengers – like simple ‘flat’ fares that can be used any time, any day - and are delighted to be working in partnership with Blackbourn & Bond to offer business travellers this recession-busting free legal advice on-board our services to London.”

Priority for the legal advice sessions will be given to first class passengers on the train, with standard class passengers able to use the service if time is available.  As the region’s only dedicated business and commerce law firm, Blackbourn & Bond works in direct partnership with clients to assist businesses through advice and close engagement.  Great emphasis is placed on the use of plain English, jargon–free communication and value for money services.

The law firm was first established in 2003 by Nick Blackbourn who has extensive corporate finance and company commercial sector experience, having worked with some of the UK’s largest PLC’s, including Guinness Plc and Rank Hovis McDougall Plc.  Dwight Bond, who joined the firm in 2005 as an Associate, now heads the commercial property division leveraging his knowledge of the leisure and retail sectors gained at a national brewery and a well know European supermarket chain.

Wrexham & Shropshire launched services last year, operating direct trains from Wrexham, Shrewsbury and Telford to London Marylebone.  Trains are timed to suit the business traveller with the first arrival reaching London before nine o’clock in the morning.  The company made national headlines recently by abolishing peak fares, allowing passengers to travel any time, any day from just £40 return standard class and £149 first class.  Wrexham & Shropshire has the highest customer satisfaction of any train service in the country according to the most recent Government-funded National Passenger Survey.
