Shrewsbury law firm leads trans-Atlantic negotiations
August 2009
The recent successful acquisition of Applied Seismology Consultants (ASC) by US-based Itasca International Inc. (Itasca) was achieved with the legal support of Shrewsbury commercial law firm, Blackbourn & Bond. The law firm’s founder and director, Nick Blackbourn has represented ASC in the UK for the last 10 years, and consulted with the company’s Canadian office to successfully facilitate this trans-Atlantic deal.
With four law firms based in the USA, Canada and the UK involved in the negotiations, Nick’s primary role was to co-ordinate all communications and consult with ASC’s Canadian law team in reviewing the terms of the acquisition and providing specialist commercial legal advice.
Nick, who has more than 25 years industry based experience working with some of the UK’s largest PLC’s, said: “What was interesting about this deal is the way in which electronic communications, negotiations, could be progressed between four law firms and two clients in three different countries simultaneously.”
