Businesses in E Midlands benefit from expert legal advice
September 2009
Nick Blackbourn from Shrewsbury's leading commercial law specialists Blackbourn & Bond was recently invited to host a seminar by Investors in Excellence and Business Link for the East Midlands Excellence Network on the subject of 'Basic Contract Law - do you know your obligations' . The seminar which was held at PricewaterhouseCoopers East Midlands office attracted a record number of senior business people from the region.
During the highly informative session Nick Blackbourn provided advice on the basic principles of contract law and explained some of the technicalities to help delegates understand how the everyday language they use in business can be significant. He also discussed the practical implications of contract law and provided advice on how to avoid common pitfalls. Nick said: “In my experience most business people do not realise they are forming contracts all the time, sometimes with disastrous consequences. It is therefore important for all business people to recognise the precise moment when a contract is formed, as this is when the parties assume contractual obligations and the consequent risk of liability if the terms of the contract are breached.”
With more than 30 delegates signing up for this seminar, Investors in Excellence with Business Link are now planning to organise a similar session with Nick in 2010 for the West Midlands Excellence Network.
